Do you enjoy working with children with additional needs and their families? Want to support a fun, inclusive space for autistic and ADHD children to play and thrive?

We’re looking to build a small team of volunteer leaders who can take turns in running our inclusive play sessions for autistic, ADHD and SEN children.

The play sessions will be running until July 2026.

About the Role
All Aboard Club runs inclusive train-play sessions for autistic and ADHD children at venues across London and Surrey. As a Play Session Leader, you’ll take the lead at our Lewisham sessions, ensuring that the session is safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone involved.
This is a trusted role with responsibility for opening and securing the venue, including holding the keys, setting up the space, and managing a small volunteer team.

You will be supported by both the Managing Director and Volunteer Coordinator, who have been running these sessions for the last 5 years.

Key Responsibilities
• Open and close the venue, including holding and safely managing the keys
• Ensure the venue is set up safely and appropriately for the session
• Support our team of volunteers to build and pack away our giant train sets
• Welcome and check-in families as they arrive
• Help resolve any minor issues or questions during the session
• Return the play equipment to its designated storage location

What We’re Looking For
• Friendly, welcoming, and calm under pressure
• Responsible and reliable – able to confidently manage a space and small team
• Organised and good at problem-solving
• Physically able to work on the floor, lifting and moving storage boxes, and helping with setup/pack down
• Able to commit to at least one weekend play session per month (approx. 3 hours)
• Have experience with or an understanding of autistic/ADHD children (either personal or professional)
• Bonus: Experience helping at or leading play sessions

Training and Support
• Full training will be provided
• You’ll be supported by an experienced play leader for your first few sessions
• You’ll only be asked to lead independently when you feel fully confident
All Aboard Club handles the venue bookings, volunteer recruitment, publicity, and ticketing. As a session leader, your job is to make the session happen on the day.

What You’ll Gain
• Experience in leading a team and managing a community event
• A deeper understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive play
• Personal satisfaction in creating joyful experiences for children and families
• Valuable skills for future work in education, childcare, community projects, and leadership
